Seasoned Advice for Software Clients and Consultants
Tuesday February 7th 2012
Hello and Welcome. My name is Brian Wisnor and I have been leading and managing enterprise level software projects throughout the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico and South Korea since 1998. For five years I served as a project manager and senior consultant for an ERP software company, working with over forty clients in thirty states. I then served as an IT project manager for two years, overseeing the implementation of an ERP system for a $500M corporation and building an EDI system from scratch. For the last four years, I have served as a business analyst at the US division of a $1B global leader in the hematology and life sciences industry. Prior to entering the arenas of project management and business analysis, I served five years as a USMC Logistics Specialist (Sgt 85-91) and then managed gourmet coffeehouses for a number of years thereafter. So, while this web site will not prepare you for your PMP certification, I do hope that whether you are a software company, software consultant or a software client, that here you will find some tools, tips and advice that will help you succeed in your own software projects.

Welcome

Welcome to ManagingSoftwareProjects.com!   Whether you have just been crowned the project manager of your company’s next generation software solution or you are a software consultant just looking to sharpen your skills and better understand the needs of your clients, you are in the right place.

The objective of this site is to share with you some practical, hands on advice gained from many years of experience in managing enterprise level software implementation projects.  As I reflect on the name of this site, I should make it clear that this is a site about managing software implementation projects, not software development projects.

This site is designed primarily for the business people who have been tasked with managing the implementation of business software and for the consultants, analysts and project managers who represent the software company.  That being said, as software is here to stay as a part of all of our lives, I hope that everyone from the corporate sponsors, project managers and subject matter experts to the small business owner/chief bottlewasher/software guru to all the fine folks at the software companies finds something of value here.   Let’s learn, let’s share and let’s have some fun. Ready, set…

    Hello,
Quite right! I like your thought. I suggest to fix a theme.
    Thanks

    Nicolas,
Thank you so much for stopping by…I believe you are my first official visitor. As is blatantly obvious, I am just starting out and exploring templates. This one caught my eye but then I realized I don’t think I can put out enough content to keep all the categories fresh simultaneously. I’m testing Atahualpa now – clean look and focus on one post at a time. I want to get a format in place so I can start focusing more on content. Thanks again for stopping by and for taking the time to leave a comment. -Brian

    Hi GlenStef,
As you can tell, I’m not quite ready for an audience, but I’m glad you stopped by and thank you for leaving a comment. I’m not sure what you’re not sure is true, but again I do appreciate your taking the time to leave a comment. Please check back again sometime – maybe I’ll be past the template selection stage and actually have some content :) -Brian
